South of the residential core, the terrain shifts into a series of water management sites and geologic formations. Numerous catchments such as Withers Reservoir, Coffee Pot Reservoir, and Sheep Corral Reservoir are scattered through the basin. The western and southern reaches are defined by significant elevations, including the prominent Sevenmile Ridge and the volcanic clusters of the Black Hills, which overlook the expansive alkali flats and sagebrush plains typical of the region.
