Chupadero Mtn and the Bald Hills dominate this high-elevation landscape in Lincoln County. The southern portion of the quadrangle is defined by the Jicarilla Mountains and the northern reaches of the Lincoln National Forest, where a sparse network of roads like Co Road A038 and 972b provide access to the hinterlands. Evidence of rural life and ranching is scattered throughout the territory, most notably at the Gnatkowski Ranch and along the drainages of Hasperos Canyon.
