Cleveland and the surrounding Blount County landscape are defined by the winding course of the Locust Fork and its major tributaries. The topography is deeply carved by water, featuring distinctive landforms like Scirum Bluff and the sharp bends of Hair Bend and Horseshoe Bend. Transportation history is evident in the survival of the Swann Covered Bridge and the Old Easley Road Bridge, which span the rugged valley terrain.

Smaller rural communities such as Blow Gourd, Deavers Town, and Nectar are scattered between the ridges of Cornelius Mtn and Straight Mtn. Local family history is preserved in numerous burial grounds, including Dailleys Chapel Cem and Brown Hudson Cem. The eastern portion of the map is dominated by the elevations of Sand Mountain and the Calvert Prong Little Warrior River, which flows through gaps like Sand Mountain Gap before joining the main river system.
