Okanogan National Forest land defines this portion of the North Cascades, where the Chewuch River carves a deep valley between high ridges. The waterway is marked by significant landmarks like Chewuch Falls and is fed by a complex system of high-altitude tributaries, including Meadow Cr and Thirtymile Cr. The topography is dominated by prominent summits such as Coleman Peak, Reed Peak, and Wellie Peak, connected by the high-elevation Coleman Ridge. Small alpine features like Meadow Lake and Bonseth Lake dot the upper basins. Transportation in this wilderness is limited to rugged routes like Nat For Dev Rd 5160 and Nat For Dev Rd 300, reflecting the area's role as a remote managed forest and recreation landscape during the early 21st century.
