The high desert town of Connell serves as the central hub of this Franklin County landscape, situated at the confluence of three distinct dry coulees. The terrain is defined by the prehistoric drainage patterns of Providence Coulee, Esquatzel Coulee, and Washtucna Coulee, which converge near the settlement. These deep, wide channels cut through the plateau, creating a natural corridor for modern transportation and infrastructure.
