Taylor Peak and the high ridges of the Schell Creek Range dominate this portion of the Humboldt National Forest. The landscape is defined by its water sources and high-elevation transit corridors, including Connors Pass and Connors Canyon. These geological features historically facilitated movement between the Steptoe Valley to the west and the more rugged terrain of eastern Nevada.
