Glacial waters and mountain ranges define this coastal Alaskan landscape, where the Bering River meets the Gulf of Alaska. The northern reaches of the sheet are dominated by the Chugach Mountains and the Don Miller Hills, a complex network of ridges protected within the Chugach National Forest. These highlands give rise to numerous drainages, including Split Cr and Rope Cr, which feed into the low-lying wetlands and silted channels of the river delta.
