Lucky Strike Canyon dominates the southern reaches of this landscape, where the alluvial fan slopes toward the high desert floor. The 1970s terrain is defined by a distinct boundary between military, wildlife, and utility interests. To the north, the Nellis Air Force Range occupies a restricted zone, while the eastern portion falls within the Desert National Wildlife Range. A remnant of earlier desert transit, the Old Railroad Grade cuts across the northern desert, marking a path long since bypassed by the modern highway corridor.
