The Devils Garden dominates this high desert landscape, where massive flows of Lava define the geomorphology of Lake County. In the early 1980s, this area remained a stark intersection of volcanic history and ranching utility, with the expansive Fort Rock Valley meeting the jagged edges of the lava beds. The terrain is punctuated by isolated peaks and depressions, most notably Cougar Mtn and the nearby Cougar Mtn Cave.
