Saint Joseph Island sits isolated in the northern reaches of this coastal survey, separated from the larger landmass of Noyes Island by the waters of the Arriaga Passage. Both islands are part of the Alexander Archipelago and are entirely contained within the Tongass National Forest. The coastline is defined by significant indentations and headlands, including the prominent Cape Ulitka which shelters Ulitka Bay.
