Fremont National Forest dominates this section of Lake County, where high-desert water management defines the landscape's character. The central drainage of Crooked Creek Valley is supported by a series of man-made water features, including White Rock Reservoirs, Cory Reservoir, and the Upper Reservoir and Lower Reservoir systems further south. These sites, along with the Wilson Ditch, indicate a legacy of ranching and irrigation in this arid region of southern Oregon. The terrain is marked by significant landmarks like Fisk Hill and several remote water sources such as Fawn Spring and Basin Spring. A network of forest and county roads, including Old Smokey Rd and Deter Ranch Rd, provides access through the timbered hills and valleys, while the Warner Hwy cuts across the southwestern corner, connecting the area to the broader regional corridor.
