Deschutes National Forest dominates this Central Oregon landscape, where the volcanic peaks of Cryder Butte, Eagle Rock, and Masten Butte rise above the high desert floor. The map documents a complex network of forest access routes, including Nat For Dev Rd 6220 and Nat For Dev Rd 6224, which provide entry into the timberlands of the Deschutes and Klamath county borderlands. In the lower elevations, water management and natural drainage are central to the terrain. The Little Deschutes River and Crescent Cr flow through the southern portion of the quadrangle, crossed by the historic crossing at Kemp Bridge. The presence of the Mayfield Ditch illustrates the region's reliance on irrigation and water diversion. Modern transit is represented by the corridor of Us-97, also identified as The Dalles-California Hwy, which serves as a primary north-south artery for this forested interior.
