Home Ranch Bottoms sits along the eastern edge of this landscape, positioned near the Wild and Scenic River Boundary that follows the North Fork Flathead River. This 1990s revision by the Forest Service highlights a complex interplay of public land management, where the western reaches of Glacier National Park meet the Flathead National Forest and designated State Forest tracts. The drainage patterns of the Whitefish Range are clearly defined by Coal Ridge and Winona Ridge, which funnel waters into the Coal Creek system and Cyclone Lake.
