Chippewa National Forest lands dominate this northern Minnesota landscape, where the boundary between Beltrami Co and Itasca Co runs north-to-south through a dense network of wetlands and small lakes. The hydrology of the region is defined by the Third River and its various tributaries, including Skimerhorn Cr and Everton Cr. These waterways connect a series of glacially formed basins such as Decker Lake, Skimerhorn Lake, and the small Dollar Lake to the south.
