Kootenai National Forest dominates this section of the Salish Mountains along the border of Flathead and Lincoln Counties. The landscape is defined by a dense network of mountain drainages, including Tamarack Cr, Calx Cr, and Tensaw Cr, which feed into larger systems. In the southern portion of the quadrangle, the Pleasant Valley-Fisher River flows through the area known as Pleasant Valley, a notable break in the high-elevation forest. Access is provided by several primitive routes and forest service infrastructure, such as the Natl Forest Dev Road 2342 Rd and the Acm Rd, which serve the timber and management needs of the national forest. This 2014 survey documents the modern layout of these forest roads and the precise hydrography of the Marl Cr and Deer Cr watersheds.
