The Cabinet Mountains dominate this high-altitude landscape in Northwest Montana, where the rugged topography is defined by the Pleasant Valley-Fisher River and its numerous tributaries. Much of the terrain is protected within the Kootenai National Forest, featuring a complex network of forestry access such as Natl Forest Develop Road 2346 Rd and Natl Forest Develop Road 251 Rd. These routes track the drainage basins of Deer Creek and Calx Creek, providing access to the steep slopes and timberlands of the region.
