Kootenai National Forest dominates this landscape along the boundary of Lincoln and Flathead counties. The topography is defined by the drainage systems of the Fisher River and the Pleasant Valley Fisher River, which wind through the terrain near Pleasant Valley Creek. The presence of a Gravel Pit along the valley floor indicates localized industrial activity amidst the heavily timbered mountain slopes. High ground is marked by the prominent Meadow Ridge, while numerous seasonal and perennial flows including Deer Creek, Calx Creek, and Tamarack Creek carve deep into the forest. This revision, updated by the USDA Forest Service in the late 1990s, provides a clear view of the wilderness access and hydrological network before further modernization of the backcountry road system.
