About this map

Denali Wilderness and portions of Denali National Park define this interior Alaskan landscape, which remains largely devoid of human structures or permanent settlements. The terrain is characterized by a complex network of glacial melt and alpine drainage systems. McLeod Lake sits in the northern reaches, feeding into McLeod Creek, while the eastern edge is defined by the course of the Muddy River. To the south and west, the headwaters of Slippery Creek and the meandering path of Iron Creek indicate a highly saturated wetland and tundra environment. This modern survey illustrates the persistent natural state of the region, where the primary landmarks are topographic and hydrological rather than man-made.
