1969 Map of Mount McKinley

USGS Topo · Published 1970

About this map

The massive ice fields of Muldrow Glacier, Eldridge Glacier, and Kahiltna Glacier dominate the southern half of this interior Alaska survey. This 1960s perspective captures the area within Mount McKinley National Park and the surrounding Alaska Range, showing the high-altitude topography of Mt Foraker, Mt Hunter, and Mt Crosson. Farther north, the landscape transitions into the drainage systems of the McKinley River and Kantishna River. Small settlements and seasonal outposts like Kantishna, Diamond, and Busia are visible, alongside infrastructure such as the Park Road and the Wonder Lake Ranger Sta. The map also traces the Winter Trail networks and indicates the remote Lake Minchumina settlement area near the Sischu Mountains at the northwestern edge.
