Diamond City and the surrounding mining claims of Broadwater County are the focus of this 2011 survey. The landscape is defined by its deep narrow valleys, including Greenhorn Gulch and Montana Gulch, which once served as the backbone of a local mineral economy. Evidence of these extraction efforts is scattered across the terrain, from the Boom Mine and Baker Mine near the town site to the Silver Snowflake Mine further northeast.
