Dick Moore Canyon and the surrounding plains of Motley County are defined by a sophisticated network of seasonal drainage and ranching infrastructure. The N Pease River meanders through the northern reaches of the quadrangle, supported by water sources such as Miller Springs and Tom Handle Cr. The reliance on water in this arid landscape is evidenced by several named landmarks, including Boggy Windmill, Waybourn Windmill, and Chimney Windmill. To the southeast, the settlement of Mott Camp is situated near Mott Camp Springs and the headwaters of Mott Cr. A network of rural transportation, including Ranch Road 28 and Co RD-160, connects these remote outposts, illustrating the geographic distribution of modern Texas ranching operations.
