The high-altitude border between Montana and Wyoming is defined here by the meeting of Gallatin National Forest and Yellowstone National Park. This montane landscape is dominated by the corridor of US Highway 191, which follows the north-south course of the Gallatin River. The geography is characterized by numerous small tributaries draining into the river, including Snowslide Cr and Terminal Monument Cr.
