Brightstar and Doddridge anchor this landscape along the state line where Arkansas meets Louisiana. The area is defined by the complex drainage of the E Fork Kelly Bayou and W Fork Kelly Bayou, which create a network of wetlands and small lakes like Westmoreland Lake and Jones Lake. The settlement pattern follows the higher ground between these waterways, with small communities such as Kiblah and Capps City positioned along the road network near the border. In the southern portion of the map, the town of Ida sits just inside Caddo Parish, Louisiana.
