Confusion Range terrain dominates this Great Basin landscape, characterized by dramatic elevation changes between the high ridges and the sinking basin floor. The geography is defined by narrow drainage passages such as Mile and a Half Canyon, Dowdell Canyon, and Payson Canyon, which cut through the uplifted limestone towards the arid lowlands. To the east, the terrain drops sharply into the Tule Valley (Depression), a vast sink that collects runoff from the surrounding peaks.
