Fremont National Forest dominates this high-elevation landscape in southern Oregon, where a series of open meadows and shallow catchments define the local topography. The area is characterized by vast seasonal wetlands and grassy openings such as Dry Prairie, Mineral Prairie, and Summit Prairie. These prairies are interspersed with prominent volcanic features like Coyote Butte and James Butte, while the distinctive Gerber Rim runs along the eastern edge of the quadrangle. Water management is central to the land's utility, evidenced by the numerous ponds and reservoirs including Willow Flat Reservoir and O'Connor Reservoir, which likely serve local ranching interests. A network of Forest Service roads, such as Nat For Dev RD 10 and Keno Springs Rd, provides access to the numerous springs that dot the terrain, from Seven Springs to the uniquely named Goop Spring.
