2020 Map of East Gavilan Canyon

USGS Topo · Published 2020

About this map

Crowther Cow Camp serves as a lone outpost in this high-altitude landscape within the Carson National Forest of northern New Mexico. The terrain is defined by dramatic elevation changes, ranging from the heights of Jawbone Mtn and Cerro Saragate down into the deep incisions of East Gavilan Canyon and Long Canyon. This area is a critical watershed for several drainages, including the Rio Vallecitos, Rio Nutrias, and the Rito de Tierra Amarilla.
