Eckley sits at the northern edge of this high plains landscape, organized around a traditional grid of streets including S Kansas St and Se Main St. The town serves as a local hub for the surrounding agricultural sections, which are defined by a regular network of county roads such as Co Rd T and Co Rd 36. A short distance south of the main settlement lies the Eckley Cem, a primary site for genealogical research in this part of Yuma County. The southern portion of the quadrangle is marked by the meandering path of the N Fork Republican River, while Chief Cr drains the northeastern corner. This 2019 survey illustrates the enduring township-and-range layout of eastern Colorado, where the vast majority of the terrain is dedicated to large-scale rural land divisions.
