Lake Erie defines the northwestern edge of this landscape, where the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern RR and Pennsylvania RR hug the shoreline through Wanakah and Walden Cliffs. Moving inland, the terrain is deeply etched by the drainage systems of Eighteenmile Creek and Cattaraugus Creek, createing a series of notable geological features like Big Gulf and Franklin Gulf. The southern portion of the sheet is dominated by the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation, where the Indian School and the settlement of Versailles are situated along the river's winding path.

Industrial and agricultural hubs are well-established at Hamburg, featuring the Fairgrounds, and North Collins. The transportation network is particularly dense, with the Erie RR and Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburgh RR serving interior hamlets such as Eden Valley and Lawton Sta.
