The coastal landscapes of Lake Michigan define this 2017 survey, spanning from the harbor at Frankfort south toward the dunes of Arcadia. The northern extent is anchored by Betsie Lake and the village of Elberta, where the Betsie Valley State Trail follows the former rail corridor along the Betsie River marshes. This modern topographical record shows a transition from the structured street grids of these port towns to the rural tracts and orchards that characterize the interior of Benzie County.
