The Madison River flows through the heart of this Madison County landscape, fueling the waters of Ennis Lake and carving the dramatic walls of Bear Trap Canyon to the north. Near the western shore, the settlement of McAllister serves as a local anchor, situated near the McAllister Cem and the confluence of several mountain-fed streams including N Meadow Cr and S Meadow Cr. The hydrologic complexity of the valley is evident in the intricate braided patterns of the Fletcher Channel and the various irrigation features like the Jack Cr Ditch that support the surrounding ranchlands.
