Erickson Basin and the high elevations of the Wasatch National Forest dominate this 1970s topographic study. The landscape is defined by a dense network of alpine lakes and dramatic glacial cirques, including Hells Kitchen and the high plateau of Norway Flat. Human presence is concentrated around the Ledgefork Guard Sta and Ledgefork Campground in the northwest, serving as a gateway for backcountry travel via the Smith Morehouse Trail (Pack) and the Erickson Creek Pack Trail. The drainage patterns are clearly delineated, showing the headwaters of the North Fork Provo River and numerous high-mountain water bodies such as North Erickson Lake, South Erickson Lake, and Rhoads Lake. This era represents the peak of modern Forest Service management before further wilderness designations altered land use patterns in the region.
