Old Maids Coulee and Sand Coulee define the drainage patterns of this high plains landscape on the border of Glacier and Toole Counties. In 2014, the region remains primarily defined by a rigid section-line road network that facilitates access to the vast agricultural plateaus of northern Montana. The topography is marked by distinct escarpments and coulees that break the otherwise steady elevation of the plains.
