Ancient human habitation and remote administrative outposts mark this mid-century survey of the high desert plateau. Numerous archaeological sites, including Cliff Dwellings, a singular Cliff Dwelling, and various Ruins, are documented throughout the drainage systems of Beef Basin and Fable Valley. These sites are concentrated along the canyon walls and wash beds, indicating a long history of seasonal settlement in a landscape otherwise defined by its scarcity of permanent water, save for scattered sources like Fable Spring and Sweet Alice Spring.
