2023 Map of Fairport

USGS Topo · Published 2023

About this map

Fairport anchors the southern tip of the Garden Peninsula in Delta County, serving as the gateway to a chain of islands separating Big Bay de Noc from the open waters of Lake Michigan. The landscape is dominated by large offshore landmasses, most notably Summer Island, which features a protected anchorage at Summer Harbor and the prominent Gravel Point. To the west and south, a series of smaller islands and shoals including Little Summer Island, Poverty Island, and Gull Island create a complex maritime environment. The mapping of the Poverty Island Passage highlights the strategic importance of these waterways for navigation between Green Bay and the lake. Settlement is sparse, concentrated near the terminus of II Rd and 6.25 Ln, where the land meets the water at Anderson Point and Point Detour.
