Fancy Gap and the surrounding Carroll County highlands are defined by a dense concentration of family cemeteries, reflecting generations of mountain settlement. From the southern edge of Hillsville down to the Blue Ridge Parkway, the landscape is dotted with ancestral plots like the Quesenberry- Semones Cem, Lewis F Webb Cem, and the Doctor Jess Dickens Cem. The terrain is shaped by high knobs and gaps, including Mitchell Knob and Bobbitt Knob, which overlook the headwaters of numerous creeks such as Snake Cr and Elk Spur Br.
