The Luckiamute River and its complex network of tributaries, including Little Luckiamute River and S Fork Siletz River, define this heavily forested portion of the Coast Range. The terrain is marked by prominent high points such as Bald Mtn and Green Mtn, which overlook the steep drainage basins of Boulder Cr and Rock Pit Cr. In the northeastern corner, the small settlement of Black Rock serves as a lone point of habitation, connected to the wider region via Black Rock Rd. Access through the timberlands is facilitated by winding routes like Fanno Peak Rd and Valsetz Rd, which navigate the sharp elevations of Fanno Ridge and Cougar Ridge. The map illustrates the 2014 state of these working forests, where the geography of ridges and creek beds dictates the path of every road and land boundary.
