Kanab North Mine and scattered prospects indicate the extractive history of this high-plateau region of Mohave and Coconino counties during the late 1980s. The landscape is defined by the management of water and wildlife, featuring the Meeks Reservoir and various cisterns such as Findlay Tank and Deer Trail Tank. These small-scale water features were essential for survival and livestock in an arid environment where drainage is carved through Burnt Canyon and Grama Canyon. Much of the eastern portion of the survey lies within the Kaibab National Forest and the Grand Canyon National Game Presv, highlighting the federal conservation presence. The prominent Bulrush Point overlooks the deep incision of Kanab Creek, which serves as a natural boundary between the adjacent counties.
