Owens Valley landscape dominates this 2021 study, characterized by a complex network of glacial creeks and high-altitude terrain. The small community of Fish Springs sits at the base of the Poverty Hills, where the Big Pine Canal manages water resources along the valley floor. To the west, the land rises sharply into the Inyo National Forest, where numerous pack and hiking trails such as the Birch Lake Trl and Red Lake Trail Head Trl lead into the high sierra.
