Five Buttes and several other prominent volcanic features rise above the high-desert landscape of Navajo County in this 2014 survey. The topography is defined by significant landmarks such as Black Butte, Round Butte, and the distinctive Twin Peaks, while the western edge is marked by the broad elevation of Malpais Mesa. This area on the Navajo Nation is a complex network of drainage systems, including the Bidahochi Wash, Pueblo Colorado Wash, and the notably named Salt Seeps Wash.
