The Virgin River carves through this desert landscape near the border of Lincoln and Clark Counties, feeding the Bunkerville Ditch as it flows toward the Virgin Valley. The city of Mesquite occupies the eastern edge of the quadrangle, where the modern grid of W Pioneer Blvd and E 1st South St meets the open terrain of the Mojave Desert. The topography is dominated by the massive Flat Top Mesa, which rises north of the river, and Virgin Hill to the west.
