Hibernia and Green Cove Springs anchor this 2015 study of the riverfront communities south of Jacksonville. The landscape is defined by the broad Saint Johns River, which separates the western peninsula containing Fleming Island from the eastern settlements of Switzerland and Fruit Cove. The western shore is particularly complex, characterized by the deep inlet of Doctors Lake and a series of smaller waterways like Swimming Pen Cr, Black Creek, and Peters Cr.
