Fodice and Holly anchor this landscape along the border of Houston and Trinity Counties, where the terrain is defined by a dense network of creek drainages. The Davy Crockett National Forest encompasses much of the northern and western reaches, protecting the headwaters of White Rock Creek and Collins Creek. This area's rural history is preserved through its scattered burial grounds, including the Shady Grove Cemetery and Old Shady Grove Cemetery, which suggest long-standing communities that once centered around these creeks and timberlands.
