The south shore of Lake Winnebago serves as the dominant geographical anchor for this 2010 study of the Fond du Lac metropolitan area. The landscape is defined by the convergence of the West Branch and East Branch which form the Fond du Lac River before emptying into the lake. This network of waterways, including De Neveu Creek and Taycheedah Creek, influenced the historic growth of North Fond du Lac and the surrounding lakeside communities of Taycheedah and Luco.
