Fort Butte rises as a central landmark in this high-elevation landscape within the Clackamas County region, where the terrain is defined by a series of prominent volcanic peaks and a complex network of forest and tribal roads. The northern reach of the map is dominated by the Warm Springs River, which receives drainage from Bunchgrass Creek. To the south and west, the headwaters of the South Fork Warm Springs River and Lemiti Creek carve through the slopes of North Pinhead Butte and North Butte. This 2011 survey reveals an intricate infrastructure of access routes, including BIA Road 34 and numerous Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and forestry roads such as BIA 50 Rd, which provide access to the timberlands and watersheds above Badger Creek and the North Fork Cedar Creek.
