Fort Rock Valley dominates this high desert landscape, anchored by the settlement of Fort Rock and the nearby Ft Rock Cem. The terrain is defined by prominent volcanic features, including the rise of Spike Butte and Coyote Butte to the southwest, while the Connley Hills extend across the southeastern portion of the quadrangle. These topographic markers were critical for early navigation and ranching in Lake County.
