Indian Rocks and Standing Rock rise from the high plains of the Garfield and McCone County line, marking a landscape defined by an intricate network of drainage channels and high-altitude coulees. The terrain is deeply incised by Big Dry Creek and its many tributaries, creating a complex topographic pattern of ridges and draws characteristic of eastern Montana. The Cedar Bed Ground Reservoir provides a rare permanent water feature in this arid environment, situated near the center of the survey.
