Bolivar Peninsula anchors the lower portion of this coastal survey, where the small communities of Caplen and Rollover sit between the Gulf of Mexico and the marshy expanses of the mainland. The landscape is defined by the complex interface of land and water, notably the Intracoastal Waterway which cuts through the southern marshes near Little Pasture Cove and Rollover Bay. Further north, across the wide waters of East Bay, a vast network of wetlands and bayous such as Jane Bayou and Oyster Bayou dominates the terrain, illustrating the hydrological connectivity of the Chambers and Galveston County border.
