Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge dominates the eastern shoreline of East Bay in this coastal survey, where the marshy wetlands of Willow Marsh and Robinson Lake meet the Gulf. The landscape is heavily managed for water control and industrial access, evidenced by a network of Levees, pumping stations, and the Sun Oil Company Canal. The interaction between the natural bayous, such as Cane Bayou and Oyster Bayou, and modern infrastructure shows a region shaped by both conservation and energy extraction.

Further south across the bay, the Bolivar Peninsula and Goat Island create a protective barrier between the bay and the open sea. This narrow strip of land carries the Intracoastal Waterway and hosts small coastal settlements like Caplen and Pierce.
