Pomerene and the northern outskirts of Benson occupy the lower reaches of this San Pedro Valley landscape, where the San Pedro River flows northward through a mosaic of high-desert drainage systems. The terrain transitions from the eastern slopes of the Little Rincon Mountains down to the river basin, carved by significant ephemeral waterways such as Tres Alamos Wash, Pacheco Wash, and Cadillac Wash. These washes dictate the local geography, creating the alluvial flats that supported early ranching and later residential developments like Rancho Vistaso.
