Gaylord serves as the central hub of this Sibley County landscape, situated at the intersection of MN-22 and MN-19. The town's layout is defined by a grid of numbered streets and avenues near the local Po, bordering the shores of Titlow Lake and Mud Lake. The surrounding prairie is heavily managed by a network of drainage infrastructure, including High Island Ditch Number Five and County Ditch Number Fiftyfive, which guide water through a terrain dotted with numerous small lakes like Kirby Lake, Beatty Lake, and Weimann Lake.
